The AKC Canine Health Foundation's (CHF) Annual Gala by the Bay will feature The AKC Pet Healthcare Plan as a raffle prize this year. The Gala will include dinner and dancing, a Maretta Kennedy bronze canine sculpture, and other spectacular raffle items.

The AKC Pet Healthcare Wellness Plan raffle prize has been donated by PetPartners.  TheSculpture purchase of a $50 raffle ticket offers the chance win a year's worth of superior pet health insurance protection (up to $13,000 and 5,000 per incident) for unexpected accidents, injuries, illnesses and preventive care. This offer is valued up to $790 in premiums.

PetPartners  has been selected by the American Kennel Club to provide superior pet health insurance protection for pet owners.  With over 25 years of experience in this field, PetPartners is one of the leading providers, focusing on comprehensive coverage to help owners budget sensibly and responsibly for their pets' healthcare needs.

"We are proud to be your partner in your pet's protection by offering a variety of plans that enable you to insure the health of your dog or cat, just as you would any other family member," said Steve Popovich, CEO of PetPartners, Inc.

Renowned sculpture artist Maretta Kennedy has generously offered her talent as part of the AKC Canine Health Foundation Gala Raffle, to be held in conjunction with the AKC Eukanuba National Championship. Ms. Kennedy, whose primary medium is bronze, (she also works in oils and water color), has donated an original sculpted bronze head study of the raffle winner's dog, which will be created from photographs provided by the owner.  Valued at $5,000, this one-of-a-kind sculpture is being raffled for only $50 a ticket and only 250 tickets will be sold.

Sculture, yellow background"I really strive for accuracy and to achieve a likeness of the dog. I want people to be able to recognize the subject," says Ms. Kennedy, "These sculptures will be around long after I'm gone and if my name is on it, I want it to be good."  Ms. Kennedy has been sculpting full time since 2001 and her focus has been on dogs and horses.

Ms. Kennedy's work is primarily commissioned for specific animals that have become an integral part of the family. "It's happened often that people become quite emotional on first seeing their finished sculpture, and this gives me the most pride.  It's a wonderful feeling to create something for someone that will always be cherished."

The CHF drawing will take place on Friday, December 11, 2009 and winners do not need to be present to win.  For more information and to purchase a raffle ticket, visit www.akcchf.org

Available in all 50 states, the AKC Pet Healthcare Plan and other plans are underwritten by one of the top 50 U.S. insurance groups, Markel Insurance Company, rated A "Excellent" by A.M. Best Company. For more information, visit www.akcphp.com
